Departmental Scholarships - History
Esther Doerr Memorial Scholarship
Department/Contact: History/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must be a sophomore, junior or senior history
or social science major with a minimum cumulative FSU grade point average
of 3.0 and a 3.0 or better in all history courses. Applicant must have
a demonstrated interest in Non-Western History. A three to five page
essay on any aspect of a third world country that demonstrates the applicants
commitment to the study of the third world showing his/her knowledge
of pertinant problems and issues must be provided with application.

Louise McKenna Scholarship
Department/Contact: History/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must be a history or social science major with
a grade point average of 3.0 or above. The recipient must have documented
financial need. Initial preference given to renewal applicants followed
by first-time freshman applicants, then sophomore, then junior, then
senior. If a freshman is selected, the scholarship will be awarded during
his/her second semester of the freshman year.

Martha T. and Ralph M. Race History Scholarship
Department/Contact: History/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient may be an undergraduate or transfer student,
a teacher returning to change subject area or a postgraduate student
who is at least a junior or senior and who will be pursuing teacher
education certification with a demonstrated record of completed history
courses. Applicants must have declared an intent to teach Western History
at the high school or secondary level and have demonstrated ability
in the study of history with a grade point average of 3.0 or better
in history courses and a minimum 2.8 grade point average overall.
