International Student Scholarships


Undergraduate International Student Grant

Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time F-1 or J-1 visa international student who is accepted for undergraduate admission at, and has been issued an I-20 or DS-2019 by, Frostburg State University. Students attending FSU on exchange programs are not eligible for the grant as tuition and fees are paid at their home institution. Student attending FSU on scholarships from external agencies may have awards reduced as appropriate. The awards may be awarded for up to four years, or the expected time of degree completion for students with transfer credits if a 2.0 GPA and full-time enrollment are maintained.
Award Amount: $6,000 per year

Undergraduate International Student Scholarship

Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time F-1 or J-1 visa international student who is accepted for undergraduate admission at, and has been issued an I-20 or DS-2019 by, Frostburg State University. Scholarship awards may be based on demonstrated academic achievement as shown by high school grade point average, standardized test scores, involvement in extracurricular activities and leadership ability for freshman and cumulative collegiate grade point average, extracurricular activities and leadership ability for transfer students. Students attending FSU on exchange programs are not eligible for the grant as tuition and fees are paid at their home institution. Student attending FSU on scholarships from external agencies may have awards reduced as appropriate. The awards may be awarded for up to four years, or the expected time of degree completion for students with transfer credits if a 2.75 GPA and full-time enrollment are maintained and a minimum of 24 credits are earned each academic year..
Award Amount: Up to $3,000 per year

Undergraduate Student Residential Scholarship

Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time F-1 or J-1 visa international student who is accepted for undergraduate admission at, and has been issued an I-20 or DS-2019 by, Frostburg State University. The recipient must reside in a Frostburg State University-owned Residence Hall (does not include Edgewood Commons). The award is only given for fall and spring semester room charges only. Resident Hall Assistants, Resident Directors, or other students not charged room fees, are ineligible. Students attending FSU on exchange programs are not eligible for the grant as tuition and fees are paid at their home institution. Student attending FSU on scholarships from external agencies may have awards reduced as appropriate. The awards may be awarded for as long as the recipient is living on-campus and maintains a 2.0 GPA and full-time enrollment.
Award Amount: $2,000 per year

Graduate International Student Grant

Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time F-1 or J-1 visa international student who is accepted for undergraduate admission at, and has been issued an I-20 or DS-2019 by, Frostburg State University. Students attending FSU on exchange programs are not eligible for the grant as tuition and fees are paid at their home institution. Student attending FSU on scholarships from external agencies and students awarded an International Fellowship or Graduate Assistantship at FSU may have awards reduced as appropriate. The awards may be awarded for up to two years, or the expected time of degree completion if a 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment are maintained.
Award Amount: $800 per year

Graduate Student Residential Scholarship

Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time F-1 or J-1 visa international student who is accepted for undergraduate admission at, and has been issued an I-20 or DS-2019 by, Frostburg State University. Rowe International Student Scholarship

Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time F-1 or J-1 visa international student entering the United States for study at FSU and accepted for undergraduate or graduate admission at FSU. Scholarship awards may be based on demonstrated academic achievement or demonstrated academic potential as shown by previous scholarship. Emergency Assistance Awards may be based on demonstrated financial need to support the needs of international students while attending FSU. The awards are for one year only.
Deadline: March 1 for returning international students; July 1 for incoming international students; January 14 for incoming spring students (both transfer and new)

Alan and Jane Wickert Study Abroad Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: The recipient(s) must have qualified to participate in the FSU study abroad program or future program(s) established by the University for similar studies. The intent is for the student to experience global diversity. Recipients may apply for an award while abroad if approved by the University. Award may be used for non-credit generating program offered outside of the partner University, while abroad, providing said activity meets the approval of the Center for International Education Awards Committee. The study abroad must be to a country that will provide a non-Western social and cultural experience. (Examples - non English speaking countries, not considered to be Anglo-European). Preference will be given to qualified applicants with demonstrated financial need.
