Jesse Gardiner Visual Arts Award

Criteria: The recipient(s) must be a freshman or transfer student and will be selected based upon participation in an art program, contest, exhibition or similar activity as administered by the Department of Visual Arts.

Jeanette and C. William Gilchrist Art Scholarship
Department/Contact: Visual Arts/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must be a full-time student, 3.0 or better grade point average with a declared major in art and design and/or pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching with art education certification or other programs as developed by FSU for similar studies in the future. Recipients may be either undergraduate or graduates. Applicants must have demonstrated interest in art and design as shown by previous scholarship or by portfolio or by membership or by avocation. A preference is given to renewal applicants. In the event of equally qualified applicants, preference will be given to demonstrated academic ability.

Karen Lucas Memorial Scholarship
Department/Contact: Visual Arts/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must be a first-time student who graduated from Allegany High School with a declared intent to be an art major. Freshman applicants may be required to provide a portfolio of materials for review. If the award is received in the sophomore, junior, or senior year, students must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better and a 3.5 grade point average in art.

Harry Mandell Art Education Scholarship

Criteria: The recipient must be a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree candidate with Art Education certification who is student teaching, and be nominated by the Art Education Coordinator.

Stephanie Ann Roper Art Scholarship

Criteria: The recipient must be an art major, a full-time student carrying a 3.0 grade point average in the art major and exhibiting a devotion to the visual arts beyond normal class requirements. The recipient(s) will be selected based upon participation in an art program, contest, exhibition or similar activity as administered by the Department of Visual Arts or its successor in support of art studies at Frostburg State University

Jenny Apsey Stegmaier Memorial Scholarship
Department/Contact: Visual Arts/Department Chair
Criteria: The recipient must be a transfer student from Allegany College of Maryland or a freshman who graduated from a high school in Allegany County, MD; be accepted for admission or be enrolled at FSU; have declared intent to be an art major and graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in art and design or its successors. Recipients must have demonstrated ability in visual arts and may be required to provide a portfolio of materials for review by the Awards Committee of the Visual Arts Department.
