Statement from the Vice President for Student Affairs Condemning Racist Language
Mar 19, 2021 9:30 AM
Dear Student Bobcat Community:
Last evening a candidate for the SGA Presidential Election made this office aware of an anonymous individual interrupting the scheduled Question and Answer Session with abusive and racist language. We reached back out to the candidate to advise of an immediate investigation. We have also asked our team to assist with setting up any future Q&A sessions to make them more secure. The SGA and this office did reach out to the candidate to offer support.
Please note that the university absolutely condemns the racist remarks made last evening. This abusive language has no place at Frostburg State University and runs counter to our values. We understand the impact words have and recognize the harmful effects of racist language. Any member of our university community in need of support can to reach out to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the University Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (UCDEI) or Student Affairs. Students can also report an incident here.
