Economic partnerships and community outreach arms of the College of Business:
Western Maryland Small Business Development Center
Collaboration with Allegany College of Maryland, the Allegany Board County Economic Development Department, Garrett Community College, and Hagerstown Community College to provide individual counseling and workshops to owners of small business in Maryland's four westernmost counties.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Center
An IRS-sponsored program providing free help to community members in preparing federal and state tax returns.
VITA- a chance for students to help people in the community who need assistance with their tax returns. You'll get free IRS training and on-the-spot satisfaction from becoming a VITA volunteer.
Who needs my help?
- Those who have a limited income
- Other students Individuals with disabilities
- Non-English speaking persons
- Those who are elderly
You can qualify to volunteer if you:Can meet and deal with a variety of people,
- Have experience or can learn about preparing tax returns,
- Can perform general administrative functions,
- Take pride in complete and accurate work,
- Are willing to complete the IRS training program
- Can spend several hours a week on VITA from February 1 through April 15.
