Competition participants must be between 14 years old to 19 years old. Provide a photocopy of the participant’s driver’s license, passport or birth certificate as proof of age when participants check in on July 22nd, 2018.


Tuition and Fees plus a $75 non-refundable deposit is due with your online application. After March 31st, 2018, until the end of registration on June 1st, 2018, the non-refundable deposit increases to $125; Tuition & Fees and Deposit is due with your online application.

Refund Policy

Refund requests must be made within 30 days of your registration and prior to March 1st, or no refund will be given. Only 70% of your tuition payment can be refunded. The only reason to request a refund is in the event your VISA is rejected, no other reason would be accepted. To request a refund send an e-mail to


  1. The Competition will consist of a single round, which will take place on July 22nd, 2018.
  2. All performers must participate in all required SMA events throughout the week.
  3. The First, Second, and Third Prize winners will perform on a recital at the end of the festival. July 28th, 2018



  1. One movement of a concerto or sonata
  2. One contrasting piece of the participant’s choice


  1. Two operatic arias of contrasting styles and languages
  2. Two art songs of contrasting styles and languages


  • FIRST PRIZE: $600
  • SECOND PRIZE: $350
  • THIRD PRIZE: $150

All participant’s rehearsals will be held on afternoon July 22nd ,2018. Prize winners are encouraged to schedule a run-through with the piano accompanist in advance of the July 28th performance. Rehearsals will be held on July 25th, 2018. To schedule a rehearsal time, contact Joseph Yungen:
