General Description: Fire Alarm system consists of manual pull stations, smoke detectors, and heat detectors located in corridors, common areas and mechanical spaces. Sounding devices are audible/visual. Local smoke detectors with soundex bases are located in all sleeping rooms.
Fire Alarm Testing and Inspection Individual components of the fire alarm system are tested annually by a third party vendor in accordance with NFPA 72, National fire alarm Code.

Portable Fire Extinguisher Inspections Fire extinguishers located in the residence halls are inspected monthly by Residence Life staff. Annual inspection is conducted by a qualified vendor in accordance with NFPA 10, Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers.
Fire and Evacuation Drills Residence Halls are required to have at least one scheduled fire drill per semester.
