Business/Alumni/Student Mentoring Program

The Business/Alumni/Student Mentoring Program (BASM) brings students and mentors together to enhance the learning environment through the understanding and experience of mentors. FSUBusiness is looking for business people and alumni to serve as mentors.

What does mentoring Involve?

  • A mentor acts as an educator, coach, and resource to the business world.
  • Mentor and student will usually interact via e-mail, exchanging short messages, questions/answers, and advice.

Who should consider becoming a mentor?

  • Are you still excited about and proud of your career?
  • Have you learned valuable lessons you would like to share?
  • Do you have 14-16 hours to devote to a student over an 8-month period (that equates to only 2 hours or less per month)?
  • Do you enjoy helping others succeed?
  • If all of these are true of you, then YOU are who we are looking for!

What are the goals?

  • Students will receive one-to-one advice, support, and guidance on the transition from college to the business world from someone with experience.
  • Students will expand the learning experience beyond the classroom.
  • Students will be able to ask questions about the business world in a secure environment.
  • Students and mentors will have FUN!

How will I be matched with a student?

  • Mentors will fill out a student preference form to ensure a good match.
