Frostburg State University Summer Music Academy

July 22-29, 2017

The Frostburg State University Summer Music Academy was created with the mission to promote classical music education all over the world. In the third world countries Western classical music education system is either very far behind or completely vacant. We hope that this academy will help the younger generation develop appreciation of culture through musical experiences. This academy will bring top artists from around the world to the Western Maryland region with the goal to inspire the local residents and develop interest in music program in the all types of educational systems. Without your support we can not make it happen. Your contribution of any amount will help our young generation experience this great opportunity!

Summer Music Academy encourages individuals with experience playing string, woodwind, brass instruments and piano looking to develop their technique and musicality to be participate. All levels of musicians are welcome! Each participant will be placed into either a chamber or large ensemble setting.

  • Outdoor activities in the beautiful setting of the Allegany Mountains

  • Exposure to Internationally renowned musicians, soloists and teachers



Welcome to the Frostburg State University Summer Music Academy! Our mission is to develop individual musicianship for string, woodwind, brass and piano instrumentalists in a supportive environment. Those above the age of 14 are encouraged to enroll in the academy. All skill levels are welcome and a variety of price options are available to suit your needs. During the one-week workshop each attendee will experience instruction from FSU music department faculty members and world-famous guest artists. This year we are excited to welcome members of the Philadelphia orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Brass, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Our Academy is able to accommodate a maximum of 60 students. Early application is recommended. The application must be COMPLETED and all parts RECEIVED by 3 pm (Eastern Standard Time) on March 31st, 2017. Later applications will be accepted on a space -available basis..



Tuition and Fees plus a $75 non-refundable deposit is due with your online application.

After March 31st, 2017, until the end of registration on June 1st, 2017, the non-refundable deposit increases to $125; Tuition & Fees and Deposit is due with your online application.


The Frostburg State University Summer Music Academy offers six payment plan alternatives:

  • Plan I: $1,180 - International students. Includes: pickup from Washington D.C airport , academy tuition, room and all board (3 meals/ day)
  • Plan II: $998 - International student parent's fee. Includes: pick-up from Washington D.C airport, concert tickets and room and all board (3 meals/day)
  • Plan III: $895 - Includes tuition, and shared room and board
  • Plan IV: $995 - Includes tuition, and single room and board
  • Plan V: $688 - Includes tuition and 2 meals/day (Lunch + Dinner)
  • Plan VI: $480 - Includes tuition only


Refund requests must be made within 30 days of your registration and prior to March 1st, or no refund will be given. Only 70% of your tuition payment can be refunded. The only reason to request a refund is in the event your Visa is rejected, no other reason would be accepted. To request a refund send an e-mail to

If you are interested in performing in a masterclass you must prepare two contrasting pieces or movements. The music may come from either solo or chamber literature. If you need an accompanist please email your sheet music to Auditions for masterclass participation will occur on the first day of the academy.
