Appalachian Festival, Mountain City Traditions

A program of Frostburg State University in partnership with the Maryland Traditions Program of the Maryland State Arts Council dedicated to the sales, presentation, documentation and perpetuation of the traditional arts in the Appalachian region.

Held each fall on the third full weekend of September, event celebrates all that is unique to the Appalachian region—its culture, history, music and dance, folk arts, and more. Events kick off with a Thursday evening film festival, continue Friday with a symposium highlighting contemporary issues in Appalachia, and culminates with a free outdoor Saturday Festival and a capstone concert in Frostburg’s Historic Palace Theatre.
