Average Lifespan: 18-20 years.

Range/ Distribution Map

Habitat Description: Mountainous and rocky terrain in Europe. They namely are in Romania, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and parts of Turkey.

Behavior/Diet: Herbivore, grass, leaves, shrubs, females are sociable living in herds while the male remains solitary until mating season.

Conservation Status: Listed as a least concern with their main threats being habitat loss and hunting.

Despite that they are not threatened or endangered Europeon laws has the Chamois under protection.
