A message regarding the Virginia Tech shootings from President Gibralter

Frostburg State University joins the higher education community and indeed the entire nation in mourning the tragic events that occurred on the campus of Virginia Tech today.

I am writing in particular to assure you that if you or anyone you know should need assistance in coping with the news of today's tragedy, there are resources available to help through the Counseling Center. Please call them at (301) 687-4234. I ask you to take special care not only to reassure one another at this difficult time, but also to encourage anyone who may be struggling with today's news to reach out to this office for assistance.

A gathering is being organized as an opportunity for members of the campus community who wish to come together to reflect on the tragedy. The gathering will be Tuesday, April 17, at 4:30 p.m. in the Osborne Newman Center's Bishop Murphy Hall. More information about this event will be forthcoming from Dr. Bowling.

As always, if you observe anything that could affect the health or safety of any member of the Frostburg community, please contact University Police at 301-687-4222 (ext. 4222 from an on-campus phone).

I know we all join together in extending our thoughts and sympathies to all those who have been affected by this tragedy.

Thank you,

Jonathan C. Gibralter
