AmeriCorps Members Tackle Cumberland Playgrounds

A STAR! AmeriCorps members of Allegany County completed a Playground Clean-up Project this summer in association with the Cumberland Housing Authority at Jane Fraiser, Fort Cumberland and Benjamin Banaker apartment complexes.

The project involved cleaning, re-painting and sealing the equipment, re-painting basketball lines, replacing basketball nets and cleaning grounds.

Participants who volunteered their times were Sean King, Kelly Meeks, Kevin Gummer, Keisha Miller, Joe Byrne, Lamel Moore, Vanessa Arnold, Jason Hill and Kristin Warnick from A STAR!, Emily White from Community Outreach Partnership Center and Ian Maddy and Alicia Sausman from the local community.

Sponsors of the event included Sherwin Williams, Naylors Ace Hardware, Family Dollar Store, Cumberland Housing Authority, Hartley’s Pizza, Constitution Park, Sports Shoppe, City of Frostburg, Frostburg State University and the Western Maryland Food Bank.
