Area Students Earn Doctorates From Frostburg State University
Ten Frostburg State University students received Doctor of Education degrees at FSU’s commencement ceremonies in May. The graduates gathered during a recognition ceremony at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown. They are, from left, Kristine Pearl, of Walkersville, Md.; Lori Ridgely, of Falling Waters, W.Va.; Rose Kraft, of Frederick, Md.; Stacy Henson, of Chambersburg, Pa.; Renee Peterson, of Boonsboro, Md.; Jessica Reinhard, of Cumberland, Md., Tonya Detrick-Grove, of Cumberland, Md., Kristin Waters, of Baltimore, Md.; Katherine Boone, of Arlington, Va.; and Carol Rothstein, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. All but Detrick-Grove are members of the first graduating cohort from USMH.

At Frostburg State University’s 148th commencement ceremonies in May, 10 students received Doctor of Education degrees.

The graduates, along with the titles of their dissertations, are as follows:

  • Katherine Boone, of Arlington, Va., “Resident Assistant Workplace Motivation: A Mid-Atlantic Regional Study”
  • Tonya Detrick-Grove, of Cumberland, Md., “Teachers’ Perceptions and Knowledge of Accommodations for Students With Disabilities”
  • Stacy Henson, of Chambersburg, Pa., “The Relationship Between Half- and Full-Day Prekindergarten and Social and Personal School Readiness”
  • Rose Kraft, of Frederick, Md., “Principal-Identified Challenges, Needs and Recommendations in Special Education Instructional Leadership”
  • Kristine Pearl, of Walkersville, Md., “What Educational Outcomes Influence Placement in College, Career or Both? A School System Analysis”
  • Renee Peterson, of Boonsboro, Md., “Perceptions of Administering Support: The View From the Classroom and the Office”
  • Jessica Reinhard, of Cumberland, Md., “From Knowledge to Practice: A Gifted Educator’s Journey”
  • Lori Ridgely, of Falling Waters, W.Va., “A Study on the Effect of a Dual-Role Induction Model on Retention and Student Achievement”
  • Carol Rothstein, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., “Acquisition and Development of the American Association of Community College’s Key Competencies for Community College Leaders”
  • Kristin Waters, of Baltimore, Md., “The Lived Experience of Teleworking: A Case Study From the Higher Education Environment”
