Baseball Announces 2003 Recruiting Class

FROSTBURG, MD — The Frostburg State University baseball team will welcome 15 freshmen and four transfers to the squad when the Bobcats open their fall season in early September.

The incoming freshman class includes pitcher Matt Sillers (Columbia, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), infielder Shaun Abrilz (Commack, N.Y./Commack), pitcher Nick Andryszak (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech), infielder Nick Cotter (Columbia, Md./Mt. St. Joseph), infielder Marshall Crown (Gaithersburg, Md./Heights School), pitcher Ryan Davis (Joppa, Md./Joppatowne), infielder Kenny Hammond (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson), outfielder/pitcher Kyle Mahan (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac), outfielder Chris Thomas (Silver Spring, Md./Blake), outfielder Lucas Tucker (Upper Marlboro, Md./Gwynn Park), pitcher Jeremey Weddle (Federalsburg, Md./Colonel Richardson), pitcher Mark Crawford (Middletown, Md./Middletown), catcher Zach Wallace (Denton, Md./North Caroline), outfielder/pitcher David Keenan (Denton, Md./North Caroline) and infielder/pitcher Mike Tiller (Dumfries, Va./Potomac).

FSU's four incoming transfers are pitchers Mike Boyce (Waldorf, Md./College of Southern Maryland), Brad Cannon (Federalsburg, Md./Chesapeake Community College) and Brent Lutz (Toms Brook, Va./Potomac State College) and infielder Travis Dixon (Fairfax, Va./Longwood College).

"I'm very pleased with our recruits who are coming in this fall," said Bobcat head coach Chris McKnight, who has guided FSU to a 63-46 record in his three seasons. "They are all outstanding young men, and I am confident they will succeed both athletically and academically here at Frostburg State."

The Bobcats finished 20-14 overall and 8-4 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference last year. FSU has won 20 or more games five of the last six years.
