Baseball Rallies Past Hamilton for 11-7 Win

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Frostburg State baseball team used a six-run eighth inning to rally past Hamilton 11-7 Monday.

FSU improved its record to 8-6 overall.

The Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the second inning but the Continentals answered with a three-run third inning to take a 3-2 advantage. FSU would regain the lead in the sixth inning after scoring two runs.

Hamilton retook the lead in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs to make it a 7-4 ballgame. In the home half of the seventh, Frostburg State plated one run to narrow the gap to 7-5 and took the lead for good with a six-run explosion in the eighth.

Freshman pitcher Freddy Foshay (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) earned his first collegiate victory after throwing one inning allowing just two runs on two hits while striking out one.

Freshman Bryan Short (Ashburn, Va./Paul VI) paced the FSU offense going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a stolen base. Sophomore Brett Mitchell (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base.

FSU returns to action Wednesday with rematch against Hamilton at 9:30 am.
