Baseball Ranks Fourth in NCAA Stats

FROSTBURG, Md. — The Frostburg State baseball team is ranked among the leaders in the NCAA Division III national statistics, released Tuesday afternoon.

The Bobcats rank fourth in the country in strikeouts per nine innings (8.7) and 42nd in win/loss percentage (.711).

Individually, FSU has three players ranked among the nation’s best.

Senior Billye Hollister (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) is 13th in NCAA Division III with nine wins and 74th with a 2.22 earned run average.

Sophomore John Micklus (La Plata, Md./McDonough) is 18th in the nation with 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings while classmate Jordan Crystal (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst (Monmouth)) is 30th with 10.1.

FSU is 28-11 overall and will play the winner of No. 6 Alvernia/No. 3 Kean in the 2006 NCAA Tournament Regional on Thursday at 1:00 pm.
