Baseball, Softball Teams Among NCAA Statistical Leaders

FROSTBURG, MD — The Frostburg State baseball and softball teams are among the national leaders in the first NCAA Division III statistical rankings released earlier this week.

The Bobcat baseball team (23-8-1) is 26th with a .345 batting average and 29th with an earned run average of 3.51.

Sophomore lefthander Billye Hollister (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) is ranked seventh in the country with a stellar 0.87 ERA through games played up to April 13.

The Bobcat softball team (13-8) is seventh in the nation in scoring with 8.05 runs per game and sits just outside the top 30 in batting average with a .330 mark.

Freshman Ashley Martin (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) is ranked fifth in Division III with 1.53 RBIs per game (29 in 19 games), while junior Richelle Foor (Everett, Pa./Everett) is 17th with 1.21 RBIs per game (23 in 19 games).

Martin is also among the national leaders in home runs, placing 29th with .29 per game (four in 19 contests).
