Bobcats Complete Perfect Season with Win Over Villa Julie

Stevenson, Md. ... The Frostburg State men's tennis team wrapped up a perfect regular season by defeating host Villa Julie, 6-1, Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats (15-0) will now await possible selection to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Sophomore Gene Cutter and freshman Jacob Cook improved their doubles mark to 17-0 on the season with an 8-3 win at the top flight, while freshman Justin Stephens and junior Terence Killen were also 8-3 winners at the No. 2 spot.

Freshman Gary Lyst and junior Sean Shillinger completed the doubles sweep with a 9-7 victory at the third flight.

In singles action, Cutter and Stephens both remained undefeated at 17-0 with victories. Cutter downed Jeb Barber, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 1 flight, and Stephens rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Adam Eisenberg at the third spot.

Freshman Jacob Cook was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at the No. 2 position, while junior Terence Killen captured the No. 4 match, 6-3, 6-2.

Senior Chip Boling defeated Tim Apicella, 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 5 spot to finish his career 66-25 and set the school record for all-time victories.

Villa Julie picked its lone point when Jason Kordilas defeated Dave Butler, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 6 flight.
