Bobcats Fall to Villa Julie in Double Overtime

Frostburg, Md. ... Villa Julie's Kerri Harman scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner 4:07 into the first overtime, to give the Mustangs a 2-1 win over Frostburg State Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Field.

With the game tied at one, Harman stole the ball from a Frostburg State defender, dribbled in alone and beat Bobcat goalie Jessica Richardson (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) for the win.

The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when freshman Jessica Linkins (Sudlersville, Md./Queen Annes) put the ball into the back of the net on a pass from sophomore Angie Weaver (Alburtis, Pa./Brandywine Heights), who got the ball on a cross from junior Danielle Foote (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco).

In the 26th minute, Harman pulled the Mustands even when she took a long pass, dribbled in and scored past goalkeeper Stephanie Zych (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland), who made three saves on the day.

The rest of the game was very physical, as a total of 36 fouls were called and one yellow card was handed out.

Frostburg State appeared to take the lead in the 88th minute when Weaver scored, but the referee ruled that she was offsides and the goal was disallowed.

The Bobcats dropped to 9-6 on the season, while Villa Julie improved to 9-6. The Bobcats close out their regular-season at Dickinson on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
