Bobcats Take Control in 4-0 Win over Bridgewater

FROSTBURG, MD — Freshman Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) scored two goals to lead the Bobcats to a 4-0 win over Bridgewater on Friday.

Senior Kristen Decker (East Aurora/E.Aurora, N.Y) drew first blood in the 27th minute from an assist by senior Kim Faust (Upper Dublin/Ft.Washington, Pa.), who had six shots on the day. Zook scored just over three minutes later to notch the scoreboard to 2-0. Zook, who led the team with nine shots, was ultra-aggressive throughout the duration of the game.

At 4:57 left in the first half, Faust found the net to put the Bobcats up 3-0. FSU kept the pressure on, holding the Eagles to just five shots in the opening period.

In the second half, aggressive senior Heather Kanowicz (Leonardtown/Leonardtown, Md.) and freshman Tawni Buck (Perryville/Perryville, Md.) continued to help keep the intensity up, as the Eagles were only allowed two shots. At the 30-minute mark, Zook honed-in on the net again, bringing the Bobcat lead to 4-0.

Junior goalie Jessica Moore (Culpeper/Bowie, Md), who played 54 minutes, had five saves on the day.

Bridgewater junior goalie Kristi Martin had 11 saves on the day, but couldn't keep the aggressive Bobcats at bay. The Eagles had only seven shots for the game.

The Bobcats, who had 26 shots and nine penalty corners on the day, are 5-4 for the season. They return to action on Sunday when they host Roanoke College at noon.
