Bonvouloir Named Head Field Hockey and Assistant Lacrosse Coach

Frostburg, Md. ... Frostburg State has named Nicole Bonvouloir head field hockey and assistant lacrosse coach, Bobcat Athletic Director Ralph Brewer announced recently.

"Nicole brings tremendous knowledge of both games," said Brewer. "She has NCAA experience, and I expect her to be able to help our players develop and take us to the next level."

A 2001 graduate of Mercyhurst (Pa.) College with a bachelor of arts degree in biology, Bonvouloir was a four-year member of both the Laker field hockey and lacrosse teams.

She was elected captain of the field hockey team both her junior and senior years and also served as captain of the lacrosse team as a senior.

As a senior defender on the field hockey team, Bonvouloir helped Mercyhurst to a 13-6-1 record and a top-10 Division II national ranking throughout the entire season.

Six wins came via shutout, and the squad closed out the year with an 11-4 mark after a 2-2-1 start.

In lacrosse, Bonvouloir earned Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) First-Team All-America, IWLCA Division II Goalie of the Year and ECAC honorable mention honors as a senior.

She helped the Lakers to a combined 21-10 record in her final two seasons, including a school-record 11-5 finish and No. 6 final national ranking in 2001.

Bonvouloir, who served as a coach and counselor at the Clay (N.Y.) Field Hockey and Lacrosse Camp from 1995-97, was a standout in both field hockey and lacrosse at Cicero North High School in Syracuse, N.Y.

She captained the field hockey team and earned first-team all league honors as a senior, and she was a member of the USA Field Hockey/Central New York team that toured Europe in the summer of 1995.

She also helped guide the Cicero North lacrosse team to two state championships (1995-96) and earned first-team all-league honors in 1997.

The Bobcats return 14 members from last year's squad that finished 11-7 overall and advanced to the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Tournament, their second straight ECAC tournament appearance.
