Brown Becomes Softball's Career Leader in Three Categories

FROSTBURG, Md. — Frostburg State junior first baseman Trish Brown (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) recently became the school’s all-time leader in three offensive categories.

Brown doubled and homered in FSU’s 21-1 victory over Mount Aloysius this past Tuesday to give her 117 career hits, surpassing Stephanie Zych’s former mark of 116 set from 2001 to 2004. Brown then collected three more hits in a 6-5 loss to La Roche Wednesday to increase her record total to 120.

Her three-run home run in the 21-1 drubbing of Mount Aloysius was also the 10th round-tipper of her career, moving her into the top spot past Amber Waltz, who blasted nine in her three-year career (1998, 2000 and 2001).

Brown added another three-run shot in Wednesday’s 6-5 loss to La Roche to give her 11 for her career.

Also, Brown’s 58 total bases this season increased her career total to a school-record 189, edging Waltz’s former mark of 188.

Frostburg State takes its 16-13 overall and 11-3 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference records into a league doubleheader at Medaille scheduled for Friday at 3 pm.
