Community Outreach Partnership Program is Honored with Award from the Maryland Association for Higher Education

The Maryland Association for Higher Education (MAHE) has awarded Frostburg State University’s Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC) with the 2005 MAHE Distinguished Program Award.

FSU Professor of Social Work Kathy Powell, COPC Director Lori Senese and COPC Community Director Emily White were honored at the annual MAHE Conference on March 10 at Catonsville Community College. The FSU program was selected for recognition because of its dedication to developing a stronger and better relationship between the city and the University. Over the past two years, Frostburg COPC has helped coordinate and launch several initiatives. The Distinguished Program Award was developed in 1982 to provide recognition of innovative and outstanding programs in Maryland higher education. Its goal is not only to recognize the achievements of these innovative new programs, but to stimulate communication about successful programs among individual and institutional members.

Each year, the MAHE president appoints a Distinguished Program Awards Committee which solicits, receives and reviews program applications and makes recommendations to the MAHE Executive Board.
