Czech Pianist Radoslav Kvapil Will Perform at FSU

Frostburg State University’s Music Department, in conjunction with the Ambassador Series of Cumberland, will present a solo performance of Czech music by world-renowned Czech pianist Radoslav Kvapil on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. in the FSU Performing Arts Center’s Pealer Recital Hall.

Kvapil was born in Brno, Moravia, and was taught from the age of 6 by Dr. Ludvik Kundera, Leos Janacek’s closest disciple and student. In 1999, Kvapil founded the International Dvorak Society, which has organized a number of concert series, including the Vysocina Music Festival, Afternoon Concerts for Seniors and The American Spring Festival. The latter is the largest-running project of Czech-American cultural cooperation currently taking place in the Czech Republic. Kvapil’s visit to Western Maryland is in advance of his performance at the Kennedy Center for National Czech Day on Oct. 28.

Admission is $10 at the door, cash only. For information, contact Dr. Joan DeVee Dixon at 301-687-4115 or
