Dinsmore Scores Two Goals to Lead Catholic to 2-0 Victory Over Field Hockey

FROSTBURG, Md. - Jayme Dinsmore scored a pair of goals for Catholic as it handed Frostburg State a 2-0 loss and its second-straight defeat, Thursday afternoon at Bobcat Field.

FSU falls to 5-12 while Catholic improves to 11-6.

The Cardinals scored the first of their two goals at 27:10 in the opening half. CUA was awarded a penalty shot and Dinsmore hit the back of the net to give the visitors the 1-0 lead.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Runion (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) kept the Bobcats in the game in the first period stopping four shots and senior Jenni Brygider (Locust Grove, Va./Orange County) recorded a defensive save as the teams headed for the locker rooms with the Cards up 1-0.

FSU attempted its only shots of the game (two) in the second half but was unable to find the net and Dinsmore added an insurance goal in the 69th minute to seal the win for CUA.

At the end of the contest, Catholic led in shots (20-2) and penalty corners (9-4).

Runion had a fine effort in the loss, making 11 saves while Cardinal netminder Marian Cassilly needed just one save to earn her seventh win of the year.

The Bobcats are back in action, Saturday when they host Houghton at 11:00 am.
