Every Kid Needs a Good Story: FSU’s 2016 Holiday Book Giveaway

Help inspire the children of Western Maryland with some of your favorite stories during the 2016 Holiday Book Giveaway, a Frostburg State University Center for Literary Arts program. Through Friday, Dec. 9, CLA, in partnership with Toys for Tots and the Family Crisis Resource Center, is collecting new and like-new children’s books to distribute to kids of all ages, from newborns to teenagers, across Western Maryland.

“The stories people fall in love with as children can make a lifelong impact. From ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ to ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’ and countless others, children’s literature sends kids on grand adventures of the mind to explore fascinating new places, concepts and cultures,” said Jennifer Browne, CLA’s director. “The gift of books offers children inspiration and possibilities.”

CLA seeks beloved picture books, beginner chapter books, young adult novels and everything in between. Parents at FCRC will be able to select books for their children, so donated books should not be gift wrapped.

Books can be donated in the Center for Literary Arts at 22 E. Main St., Main Street Books at 2 E. Main St. and on the Frostburg campus in Dunkle Hall room 312 or the Ort Library.

The 2016 Holiday Book Giveaway is sponsored in part by FSU’s Office of the President, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Office of the Provost, ASTAR! AmeriCorps, the Maryland State Arts Council and the Allegany Arts Council.
