Faust's Hat Trick Powers Field Hockey Past St. Mary's

FROSTBURG, MD — Junior Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) posted her first hat trick of the season and added an assist to power Frostburg State past visiting St. Mary's College of Maryland Saturday afternoon.

Faust opened the scoring just over eight minutes into the contest with an unassisted goal and then fed senior Katie Harrington (Prince Frederick, Md./Calvert) just 1:36 later to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.

Faust then found the net again just over four minutes later, and freshman Joanna Morelli (Rising Sun, Md./Rising Sun) added her first collegiate goal only 1:11 later as Frostburg State built a commanding 4-0 halftime advantage.

The Bobcats (3-5) capped the scoring at 30:42 when Faust notched her third goal of the game.

The Seahawks (2-5) avoided the shutout when Michelle Daugherty scored off an assist from Kate Story with 15:48 left in the game.

The Bobcats visit Goucher on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
