Faust's Second Straight Hat Trick Sparks Bobcats to Second Straight Win

TOWSON, MD — Junior Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) posted her second consecutive hat trick to go along with two assists, and senior Katie Harrington (Prince Frederick, Md./Calvert) scored twice to spark Frostburg State to a 6-1 win over host Goucher College Tuesday afternoon.

Faust, who exploded for three goals and an assist in Saturday's 5-1 victory against St. Mary's, helped the Bobcats to their highest scoring output and first consecutive wins of the year.

The Bobcats (4-5) dominated the opening half of play, building a 4-0 lead at the intermission.

Junior Kristen Decker (West Falls, N.Y./East Aurora) notched her first goal of the season just over five minutes into the game off an assist from fellow junior Heather Kanowicz (Mechanicsville, Md./Leonardtown), and the Bobcats took a 2-0 lead just 2:35 later when Katie found the net with a helper from Faust.

After almost 16 minutes of scoreless action, Faust banged home consecutive unassisted goals in under eight minutes to give Frostburg State a commanding four-goal edge at halftime.

Goucher (4-8) got on the board only with 27:45 left in the game when Stephanie Solter scored with an assist from Saburah Posner, but Faust helped the Bobcats seal the win with another unassisted goal with 21:51 remaining before feeding Harrington again with just over 13 minutes to play.

Frostburg State held a 33-12 advantage in shots as well as a 17-5 edge in penalty corners.

The Bobcats will go for their third straight win on Saturday when they host York (Pa.) at 1:00 p.m.
