Feller, Tiller Lead Baseball to Sweep of Emory & Henry

EMORY, VA - Junior Scott Feller (Coral Springs, Fla./American Heritage) went 3-for-4 with five runs batted in to lead Frostburg State to a 10-3 win in game one, and sophomore Mike Tiller (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) tossed his first career shutout in a 2-0 victory in the nightcap as the Bobcats swept host Emory & Henry Sunday afternoon.

Frostburg State improved to 3-3 with its third straight win, while Emory & Henry fell to 0-6.

In the opener, Emory & Henry took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first before Frostburg State tied it on a RBI-single by junior Chris Baugher (Frederick, Md./Brunswick) in the top of the second.

The Wasps answered with another run in the home half of the inning, but Feller belted a three-run homer in the third to put the Bobcats ahead for good.

Senior Sean Davis (Olney, Md./Sherwood) and Feller each laced run-scoring singles in the top of the fourth to give FSU a 6-2 advantage.

Emory & Henry scratched across another run in the bottom of the fourth to cut its deficit in half, but the Bobcats scored twice in both the sixth and seventh innings to pull away.

In the sixth, Feller smacked another RBI-single and senior pinch-runner David Lydon (White Plains, Md./McDonough) later scored on a double steal.

The Bobcats added a pair of unearned runs on three Emory & Henry errors in the seventh.

Senior Rob DeSanto (Rockville, Md./Wheaton) picked up the win in relief, allowing one unearned run while striking out three and walking one in 3 1/3 innings.

In game two, junior Matt Hammond (Woodsboro, Md./Walkersville) drilled a two-run home run and Tiller scattered five hits for his first complete-game shutout.

The teams battled through three scoreless innings before the Bobcats struck for the game's only runs in the fourth.

With one out, senior Justin Wilt (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) doubled, and Hammond, a transfer from Frederick Community College, sent the next pitch over the left field wall.

FSU looked to add to its lead later in the inning, as the next three batters reached base. However, the Bobcats came away empty.

E&H loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Tiller recorded a strike out and a fielder's choice to end the game.

Tiller finished with five strikeouts and two walks in his solid performance.

The Bobcats return to action Tuesday when they visit Dickinson for a nine-inning game beginning at 3:00 pm. The contest was originally slated for Frostburg but was relocated due to snow.
