Ferguson Earns All-America Honors with Third-Place Finish at Outdoor National Championships

Decatur, Ill. ... Sophomore Maria Ferguson (Springdale, Md./Laurel) finished third in the 100-meter dash to earn All-America honors at the 2001 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships held last weekend at Millikin University.

Ferguson turned in a time of 12.32 seconds and finished behind Lincoln junior Rhondale Jones (11.98) and Wheaton freshman Kim Jones (12.21). Ferguson advanced to the final by winning her heat in 12.20 seconds.

Wheaton College won the women's title with 83.5 points. Calvin scored 49 points to finish second, while Lincoln placed third with 47.

FSU tied for 39th place with Ferguson's six team points.
