Ferguson Finishes 9th in 100-Meter Finals at NCAA National Championships

FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State University junior Maria Ferguson (Laurel/Fairmount Heights, Md.) finished ninth in the finals of the 100-meter dash Saturday afternoon, at the NCAA Division III Championships at St. Lawrence University with a time of 12.56.

Ferguson who qualified Friday with a time of 12.37, just missed out on becoming an All-American as the top eight finishers are given that distinction.

"Maria ran a tough race, but came up short today." said Bobcat head coach Felix Moreno.

Junior Vernick Smith of Wheaton (Mass.) College, which took home the women's team title with 72.0 points, won the race with a time of 12.02. She also had the fastest qualifying time, 12.15, from the previous day.
