Field Hockey Blanked by 15th--Ranked Catholic

WASHINGTON, DC — Catholic University scored a pair of first half goals en route to blank visiting Frostburg State, 2-0, on Wednesday for its tenth win in a row.

The Cardinals (12-1), ranked 15th in the latest STX/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll, took a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the contest when Maggie Mahoney scored an unassisted goal.

The teams then battled through 20 minutes of scoreless action before Rebecca Clark found the net off an assist from Trisha Hines to conclude the scoring.

Bobcat sophomore Jessica Moore (Bowie, Md./Culpeper (Va.)) made 11 saves in the loss, while sophomore Christine O'Neil (Edgewater, Md./St. Mary's) added a defensive save.

Catholic outshot Frostburg State, 28-14, with the Bobcats holding an 11-5 advantage in penalty corners.

The Bobcats, now 4-7 on the season, return to action on Monday when they visit Bridgewater (Va.) at 4:30 p.m.
