Field Hockey Blanked By No. 12 McDaniel

FROSTBURG, MD — Visiting McDaniel scored single goals in both the first and second halves to post a 2-0 win over Frostburg State Wednesday afternoon.

The Green Terror, ranked No. 12 in this week’s STX/NFHCA Coaches Poll, opened the scoring on a goal by sophomore Caitlin Potter at the 18:06 mark.

McDaniel (4-0) looked to add to its lead with 3:31 left in the first half, but Bobcat junior Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) stopped a penalty stroke by Green Terror junior Dani Unflat to keep it a 1-0 game at halftime.

Sophomore Carolanne Bianco gave McDaniel a 2-0 lead with 19:26 left when she blasted a shot from the top of the circle past Cousin.

Cousin finished with 12 saves.

McDaniel outshot Frostburg State 21-1 and held a 13-3 advantage in penalty corners. The Green Terror have outscored their first four opponents by a combined 12-2 this season.

Frostburg State (1-4) returns to action Saturday when it visits Christopher Newport at noon.
