Field Hockey Blanks Bellarmine in Season-Opener

LOUISVILLE, KY - Senior Kim Faust (Upper Dublin/Ambler, Pa.) dominated the field Friday afternoon when she tied a school record with four goals to lead Frostburg State to an impressive 8-0 victory over host Bellarmine.

Faust scored her first goal in the game's opening minute and found the net eight minutes later. She tacked on a pair of second-half goals to cap her outstanding performance.

Freshman Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) started her career with a sturdy two goals and one assist.

Also lending two goals en route to victory was senior Kristen Decker (East Aurora/E.Aurora, N.Y). Adding a second-period assist was sophomore Amanda Schrom (East Aurora/E.Aurora, N.Y.).

Junior Jessica Moore (Culpeper/Bowie, Md.) made three saves in the first half before giving way to freshman Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.), who stopped five shots in the second period.

Frostburg State outshot Bellarmine, 23-14, for its first season-opening shutout since 1994.

The Bobcats return to action on Sunday when they visit Transylvania at 10 a.m.
