Field Hockey Blanks Washington & Jefferson

Frostburg, MD — Frostburg State scored three goals in a four-minute span early in the first half and never looked back as they defeated host Washington & Jefferson 6-0 Thursday night.

Freshman Jenni Brygider (Orange County/Locust Grove, Va.) started off the scoring with her first career goal at the 21 minute mark and sophomore Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) added the first of her two goals on the evening just 50 seconds later to give the Bobcats (2-3) all the scoring they would need on the night.

Junior Amanda Boswell (Lackey/Marbury, Md.), who assisted on the first Zook goal, scored her first career goal three minutes later before sophomore Kim Smith (Thomas Johnson/Frederick, Md.) added a goal to finish the first-half scoring for FSU.

Zook and sophomore Tawni Buck (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.) added second-half goals and make the final score 6-0 in favor of Frostburg State.

Sophomore goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.), who played in the first half, got the win for the Bobcats.

Frostburg State returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Dickinson College at 12:00 p.m.
