Field Hockey Defeats Villa Julie

OWINGS MILL, MD — The Frostburg State field hockey team picks up its sixth win of the season with a 3-1 victory over host Villa Julie Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman Sarah Rutland (North Potomac, Md./Holy Cross) opened the game with a goal in the 15th minute off a feed from sophomore Brittney Blystone (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin). This put the Bobcats(6-4) ahead 1-0 at the break.

In the second half, senior Tawni Buck (Perryville, Md./Perryville) passed the ball to junior Amanda Griswold (Rockville, Md./Magruder) with 19:01 left on the clock to give FSU a 2-0 advantage. Junior Jenni Brygider (Locust Grove, Va./Orange County) found the net off a pass from sophomore Brittany Russell (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) who knocked it in with 7:01 left in regulation to cap the scoring for the Bobcats.

Morgan Feehery put the Mustangs (1-9) on the board with 5:47 left in the game.

Senior goalie Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) played the entire game and made five saves in win.

Frostburg State returns to action Saturday as it hosts Philadelphia Bible at 1:00 pm
