Field Hockey Drops Contest to Houghton

HOUGHTON, NY — Senior Kelly Mazzeo scored the only goal of the day to lift Houghton 1-0 over the visiting Frostburg State field hockey team Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats close out their season with a 11-7 record, the best since 2002 when they went 12-7. The Highlanders improved to 8-4.

In the first half, Houghton held the advantage in penalty corners 2-1, but neither team could convert them to goals, leaving the game scoreless at intermission.

Mazzeo’s goal came with 25:45 left in the second half, off a penalty corner by freshman Aryn Prince.

Senior goalie Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) made 11 saves in the loss.
