Field Hockey Drops Match to York

Frostburg, MD — Frostburg State dropped a tough match, 2-0, to visiting York College Sunday afternoon. The Spartans scored a goal in each half to hand the Bobcats their third loss in four contests.

Frostburg State started the afternoon strong, getting the first two shots of the game before allowing a penalty stroke goal by Sara Mauck at the fifteen minute mark of the first half.

York kept the pressure on the FSU defense and sophomore goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.) but couldn't manage another goal in the opening half.

Becky McCall added an insurance goal in the 50th minute for York, knocking in a rebound of her own shot to make the final score 2-0.

Cousin had five saves on the day and Elizabeth Armstrong (Perryville/Port Deposit, Md.) made a defensive save for the Bobcats.

Frostburg State returns to action September 11th when it travels to Washington & Jefferson for a 7:00 p.m. game.
