Field Hockey Dumps Transylvania, 4-1, for First 2-0 Start Since 1987

LEXINGTON, KY - Senior Kim Faust (Upper Dublin/Ft.Washington, Pa.) led the Bobcats to their second victory of the season with two goals and one assist as FSU downed host Transylvania 4-1 Sunday morning.

Faust, who now has six goals in the young season, found the net with 8:27 left in the first half before assisting freshman Tawni Buck (Perryville/Perryville, Md.) for the second goal just over three minutes later.

In the second half, Faust picked up her second goal on an assist from senior Heather Kanowicz (Leonardtown/Leonardtown, Md.).

Freshman Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) closed out the scoring off an assist from senior Kristen Decker (East Aurora/E.Aurora, N.Y.).

The Bobcats outnumbered Transylvania, 21-7, in penalty corners.

Freshman Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.) started in goal and had one save in the first half for her first career win, while junior Jessica Moore (Culpeper/Bowie, Md.) had two stops in the second stanza.

Kanowicz and senior Missy Street (Rising Sun/Northeast, Md.) each had a defensive save in the first half.

Cathy Rafferty scored with 14:48 remaining in the second half for Transylvania's lone goal.

The Bobcats, who are off to their first 2-0 start since 1987, return to action Friday night when they visit Muhlenberg at 7 p.m.
