Field Hockey Earns NFHCA Academic Awards

GLEN ALLEN, VA - Frostburg State University earned academic honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Tuesday.

The Bobcats earned the 2003 NFHCA Division III Team Award, having achieved a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 during the fall semester of the 2003-04 academic year.

In addition, six FSU players were named to the 2003 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.

Junior Amanda Boswell (Marbury, Md./Lackey), freshman Amanda Griswold (Rockville, Md./Magruder), junior Becca Huber (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville), senior Ashley McKenney (Chesapeake City, Md./Bohemia Manor), senior Christine O’Neil (Edgewater, Md./St. Mary’s) and sophomore Heidi Zook (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) all earned academic squad honors.

This is the second consecutive NFHCA academic honor for Huber, McKenney and O’Neil.

"This shows the quality student-athletes we have in our field hockey program," said head coach Nicole Bonvouloir. "All of our players have worked extremely hard both on the field and in the classroom, and I’m very proud of our accomplishments."

Student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the fall semester of the 2003-04 academic year.
