Field Hockey Edged by Villa Julie in Overtime

STEVENSON, MD — Villa Julie sophomore Jennifer Marsteller scored just 45 seconds into overtime to give host Villa Julie a 2-1 win over Frostburg State Tuesday afternoon.

The Mustangs (8-12) opened the scoring with 5:19 left in the first half when sophomore Dawn McFarland found the net with an assist from Marsteller.

The Bobcats (6-9) pulled even with 21:51 remaining in regulation as junior Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) scored her team-high 17th goal of the year, giving her seven in the last four games. Senior Cindy Reese (Westminster, Md./Westminster) notched her team-leading eighth assist.

Frostburg State sophomore defender Katie Walker (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) later helped force the overtime session with a key defensive save.

Sophomore Jessica Moore (Bowie, Md./Culpeper (Va.)) made four saves for the Bobcats, who held a 27-4 advantage in shots and an 11-8 edge in penalty corners.

Frostburg State concludes its season on Thursday when it hosts Washington & Jefferson for Senior Day at 4:00 p.m.
