Field Hockey Edged by Virginia Wesleyan

NORFOLK, VA — Sophomore Jaclyn Bailey scored with 7:18 remaining in the game to lift Virginia Wesleyan past Frostburg State, 1-0, Saturday afternoon.

Jana Popeleski assisted on the goal for the Blue Marlins, who improved to 3-3 on the season. The Bobcats dropped their third straight game to fall to 1-3.

Frostburg State held a 16-10 advantage in shots but could not get one past Virginia Wesleyan goalie Rachel Willis, who made 11 saves. Bobcat sophomore Jessica Moore (Bowie, Md./Culpeper, Va.) stopped three shots in the narrow loss.

The Bobcats will visit Randolph-Macon College on Sunday at noon.
