Field Hockey Falls in Home Opener, 2-0, to Elmira

Frostburg, MD — Frostburg State gave up a goal in each half, as it lost its home opener to Elmira College 2-0.

The Bobcats (1-2) were under pressure from the start as Elmira controlled play with five penalty corners in the first 20 minutes. The pressure payed off in the 19th minute as Nicole Rotolo got a goal past FSU goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.), who had one save on the day.

Frostburg State finally got the offense going in the second half, oustshooting Elmira 5-3, but couldn't find the net against Soaring Eagle goalie Megan Mooney.

Freshman Amanda Griswold (Magruder/Rockville, Md.) and sophomore Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) led the Bobcats with two shots apiece.

Frostburg State returns to action tomorrow when it hosts York College at 2:00 p.m.
