Field Hockey Falls to Division II Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA — Frostburg State senior Kim Faust (Upper Dublin/Ft. Washington, Pa.) scored twice, but Division II Slippery Rock rallied with a pair of late goals in the second half to pull out a 3-2 win Wednesday afternoon.

The Bobcats (9-6) took a 1-0 lead when Faust netted her first goal of the game, but the Rock evened things up at the 16:55 mark as the teams went into halftime tied, 1-1.

Faust found the net again at the 24:07 mark of the second half off an assist from freshman Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) to put FSU ahead, 2-1. Faust now has a team-high 17 goals on the year.

However, the hosts rallied, pulling even with 15:25 remaining and getting the game-winner with just 4:50 to play.

Junior Jessica Moore (Culpeper (Va.)/Bowie, Md.), now 7-3 this year, made three saves for the Bobcats, who were outshot 12-10 and held a narrow 5-4 edge in penalty corners.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday when they host Villa Julie at 1:00 pm.
