Field Hockey Falls to Muhlenberg Despite Solid Performance

ALLENTOWN, PA - The Frostburg State field hockey team (2-1) lost a rough game in Allentown, Pa., as Muhlenberg College (2-1) defeated the Bobcats 1-0 Friday night.

The only goal was scored early in the second period by Sarah Fosdick, her first career tally, off of a penalty corner.

Frostburg State goalies Jessica Moore(Junior/Bowie, Md and Kristen Cousin (Freshman/Edgewater, Md.) combined to make seven saves and felt the pressure as Muhlenburg was able to get off 17 shots from inside the circle in the first half and had eight more in the second.

Christine O’Neil (Junior/Baltimore, Md.) added defensive support by making two defensive saves at critical times.

"The game could have gone either way," said Head Coach Nicole Bonvouloir. "The artifical turf is what killed us."

The Bobcats will look to rebound on Saturday as they travel to Dickinson College for a noon contest.
