Field Hockey Falls to Third-Ranked Salisbury

SALISBURY, MD — Salisbury junior Jill Cressor scored three times to lead the No. 3 Sea Gulls to a 6-1 win over visiting Frostburg State Saturday afternoon.

Salisbury (14-2) opened the scoring just 58 seconds into the game when junior Lindsay Bard found the net, and Cressor and senior Tara Webster later scored 4:30 apart as the Sea Gulls built a 3-0 lead.

Cressor scored again at the 13:54 mark, and Webster notched her second goal of the afternoon with just 57 seconds remaining in the first half to give the hosts a commanding 5-0 lead at the break.

Cressor completed the host's scoring with 20:00 left in the game.

Frostburg State (6-8) avoided the shutout when junior Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) off an assist from Cindy Reese (Westminster, Md./Westminster) scored with 33 seconds remaining. It was her sixth goal in the last three games.

Sophomore Jessica Moore (Bowie, Md./Culpeper, Va.) made 14 saves for the Bobcats, who were outshot, 44-4.

Frostburg State will visit Villa Julie on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
