Field Hockey Loses Close Fight with Juniata 1-0 in Overtime

FROSTBURG, PA — The Bobcats lost 1-0 in overtime to Juniata Tuesday afternoon when sophomore Grace Mcluskey found the net at 9:52 off an assist from sophomore Jean Silvey.

In the first half, both teams had equal possession of the ball. Despite an aggressive effort by each team, neither could capitalize on opportunities to score.

In the second half, Juniata had possession more often, including seven penalty corners. FSU remained aggressive and took some big shots that might have changed the outcome of the match, but had no luck.

The overtime followed in the same fashion, and junior Sarah Tipsword (McDonough/Pomfret, Md) made some great defensive plays. Eventually, McCluskey found a hole and scored, winning the game for the Eagles.

The Bobcats, now 8-5, return to action on Sunday, October 12th versus visiting Catholic at 1:00 p.m.
