Field Hockey Match Ends in Suspended Game Due to Weather

Frostburg, MD — Frostburg State was leading 3-2 at the 27:24 minute mark of the second half against Christopher Newport when the game was halted due to lighting and thunderstorms. The officials stopped play as the field was deemed unplayable. The game will be continued on October 26th at Christopher Newport from the point of stoppage.

Sophomore Tawni Buck (Perryville/Port Deposit) started off the scoring for the Bobcats (2-7) as she tied the game in the 18th minute on an unnassisted goal. Fellow classmates Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) and Kim Smith (Thomas Johnson/Frederick, Md.) then put FSU ahead three minutes later when Zook scored off a pass from Smith to make the score 2-1.

Buck then put Frostburg State ahead in the 30th minute when she scored off a pass from Zook to make the score 3-1 at the half.

Christopher Newport managed to get a goal in the second half as Ashley Roberson got a break-away goal against sophomore goalie Kristin Cousin (South River/Edgewater, Md.). Senior goalie Jessica Moore (Culpeper/Bowie, Md.) got the start and made two saves in net for the Bobcats.

Frostburg State returns to action tomorrow when it hosts St. Mary's College at 3:30 p.m.
