Field Hockey Shutout by Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE, Md.— The Frostburg State field hockey team was shutout by Johns Hopkins, 6-0, Monday afternoon in its second game of the season.

FSU falls to 0-2 while JHU earned its first win of the season to even its record 1-1.

The Blue Jays scored early when Amy Soegel netted her first goal of the year just 3:41 into action. Less than three minutes later, Emily Miller scored to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage.

At 10:30, Jamie Zubrow put Johns Hopkins up 3-0 with her first goal of the season. Adair Landy then increased the lead to 4-0 with a score at 13:19.

In the second half, Sarah Bender made the score 5-0 with a goal at 39:27 and Katie Wong capped the scoring with a goal at 55:56.

Bobcat goalie Amanda Runion (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) made 17 saves during the game in a losing effort.

FSU returns to action on Wednesday, September 6 when it travels to Washington & Jefferson at 7:00 pm.
